Danville’s Village Mall Shopping Center is losing one of its anchor stores. The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. announced Wednesday afternoon that the company will close 42 of its stores – including Carson’s in Danville. There are seven stores closing in Illinois and five in Indiana.
Store closing sales are scheduled to begin immediately (on February 1st) and run approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Associates at the affected stores will be offered the opportunity to interview for available positions at other store locations.
‘’As part of the comprehensive turnaround we announced in November, we are taking the next steps in our efforts to move forward with a more productive store footprint,’’ said Bill Tracy, president and chief executive officer for The Bon-Ton Stores. ‘’Including other recently announced store closures, we expect to close a total of 47 stores in 2018,’’ he added.
Tracy added the company wants to thank the loyal customers who have shopped at these locations, and he expressed deep gratitude to ‘’our team of hard-working associates for their commitment to Bon-Ton and serving our customers.’’
In addition to Carson’s, some other stores at Danville’s Village Mall Shopping Center include Burlington, Slumberland Furniture, Ross Dress for Less, Dunham’s Sports and County Market.
