Aqua Illinois Water Company says it completed nearly $4.5 million dollars last year on improvements in Vermilion, Champaign and Knox counties.
In Vermilion County the water company says it spent $800-thousand dollars last year lining an 8-inch water main along North Vermilion Street. It was the second of two phases rehabilitating an aging water main in that area.
Also last year, Aqua Illinois says it spent over $425-thousand dollars boring a 24-inch pipe under Stoney Creek at English Street, and almost $600-thousand dollars replacing some aging cast iron water mains along Plum, Clarence and Griggs Streets in Danville. In some of those areas Aqua also made other improvements replacing water meters and replacing some customer service lines.
The Illinois Commerce Commission is scheduled to act late next month on a rate hike request from the water company.
