Danville Area Community College Trustees are expected to vote on a proposed tuition hike next month after discussing it last night (Thursday, February 22, 2018). The board is considering raising tuition by $5-dollars per credit hour.
Board member Bill Black says he hopes students realize it is not what the board wants to do. He says the State of Illinois is asking that local community colleges pickup more of the cost of an education.
DACC President Stephen Nacco expects the college will only receive 50-percent of what it suppose to get from the state….
Board Vice Chair Dr. Ron Serfoss said he believes the proposed increase is fair to current and future students, as well as taxpayers. He also noted the Danville Area Community College Foundation offers a lot of scholarships.
