Vermilion County Democrats have decided they want JB Pritzker to be their candidate for governor this fall. And Pritzker also won the nomination statewide in Tuesday’s voting.
Pritzker and his running mate Juliana Stratton collected 1,738 votes to 996 for Chris Kennedy and 714 for Daniel Biss, according to final, un-official numbers.
Pritzker will face incumbent Governor Bruce Rauner in the fall according to nearly complete vote totals late Tuesday night. Rauner had been declared the winner after garnering 52-percent of the statewide vote to 48-percent for Jeanne Ives.
Pat Quinn led a field of eight candidates for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General in Vermilion County. Quinn had 1,143 votes to 771 for Scott Drury and 707 for Kwame Raoul.
Kevin Gaither won the Democratic nomination in the 15th Congressional District and will face incumbent Republican Representative John Shimkus in the fall.
In the 104th Illinois House District Cynthia Cunningham, a Democrat, will face Republican Mike Marron in the General Election in November. Cunningham defeated Frank McCullough Jr. of Danville in Tuesday’s vote.
For Vermilion County Clerk, Mary Roberson won the Democrat Party’s nomination over Darrin Holycross. (Final, unofficial numbers showed Roberson with 2,158 votes to 1,557 for Holycross.)
In Vermilion County Board District 9 Democrats Bruce Stark and Diana Breneman won the two nominations. Frank Hoskins finished third and out of the running.
On the Republican ticket, incumbent Bruce Rauner finished on top in Vermilion County Tuesday. He and his running mate, Evelyn Sanguinetti collected 3,245 votes to 2,506 for Jeanne Ives and Rich Morthland.
Erika Harold won both in Vermilion County and statewide in her effort to grab the Republican nomination for Attorney General. In Vermilion County Harold easily outdistanced Gary Grasso 3,705 to 1,825.
In Vermilion County Board District 2 Daniel Wright picked up the Republican nomination over Barb Delanois.
