Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer is asking the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to appoint four new Probationary Police Officers….
Some members of the Danville Fire Department have said their numbers are down, too. But Mayor Eisenhauer told VermilionCountyFirst.com News Tuesday evening…
The Mayor wants the police officers to be selected from the current eligibility list when the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meets on April 3rd. If approved, the appointments would take effect on April 25th, contingent upon passing physical and psychological exams and background investigations.
It was in January that five new Danville Probationary Police Officers received their badges and some advice during a swearing-in ceremony at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building.
Public Safety Director Larry Thomason told the officers they were taking on a big responsibility. And he also cautioned them never to let their badges be tarnished.
The five new officers hired in January took the Danville Police force to 59 sworn personnel. It is authorized to have 64, and Thomason said at the time that he hoped the vacancies could be filled within a few months.
