Champaign Police and the U.S. Marshals Service have arrested a Rantoul man for some recent armed robberies. Thirty-nine year old Marcellus Ward is charged with the March 29th armed robberies at the U.S. Post Office in the 200 block of Race Street in Urbana and the robbery of a CVS Pharmacy on South Mattis Avenue in Champaign. Ward is also charged with pulling an armed robbery at the Woodforest National Bank in the 2600 block of North Prospect in Champaign on March 31st.
Police and Federal Marshals say they believe Ward was responsible for all three robberies. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
