The Illinois State Board of Education has issued vouchers to the Illinois State Comptroller paving the way for the tier funding portion of fiscal year 2018 Evidence-Based Funding. ‘’Implementing a radically new funding formula required extraordinary effort by ISBE staff and school districts,’’ said State Superintendent of Education Tony Smith.
Under the new formula additional money will be flowing to Vermilion County School districts according to ISBE figures. The new money includes:
- Danville School District 118 —– $2.1 million dollars
- Oakwood Unit 76 Schools —– $230,000
- Westville Unit 2 Schools —– $631,000
- Georgetown- Ridge Farm —– $370,000
- Rossville-Alvin Schools —– $131,000
- Potomac District 10 —– $20,000
- Hoopeston Area Schools —– $462,000
- Armstrong-Ellis Schools —– $102
- Armstrong Twp High School —– $111
- Salt Fork School District —– $64,000

State Senator Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) is pleased with the new formula. ‘’I believe this marks the beginning of a new era for how we fund schools,’’ said Barickman. ‘’The distribution of these funds is the result of years of hard work from lawmakers and members of the education community toward creating an adequate and equitable system of distributing funds to schools,’’ added Senator Barickman.
