Danville District 118 School Board members have decided to look into the possibility of placing new STEM labs at the high school, and possibly North Ridge Middle School. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
The school board this week hired BLDD Architectural services to study the issue and develop some rough drawings. Buildings and Grounds Director Skip Truex says they will not be full-blown drawings ready to go out for bid, but they will be something the board can study.
Truex says the current thought is that if the district decides to proceed with getting the new STEM labs the location at Danville High School would be the north end of the building. The location for placing a STEM lab at North Ridge Middle School has not been decided.
School Board President Bill Dobbles says the new labs would probably be a couple of years down the road – at the earliest. But he adds he thinks it is very important to determine whether it is feasible to have them.
In addition to bringing back rough drawings for the labs, BLDD will also be asked to provide some projected cost estimates.
