If voters would approve changing to a City Manager form of government there would still be a Mayor and 14 Aldermen. But it would be a ‘weak’ mayor whose function would be mostly ceremonial and attending meetings.
Danville Alderman Rickey Williams Jr. was one of those present for the announcement about the petition drive, but said he was there only to gather information. Williams has not yet decided whether he supports the change….
Ahrens says once they secure a sufficient number of signatures on petitions, the question would be placed on this fall’s ballot…
Moving Danville Forward says it believes it is time to offer citizens the option to choose trained, professional leadership in guiding and prioritizing the use of taxpayer resources through oversight of the day-to-day operations of the community.
