Danville City Council members meet this evening (Tuesday, May 1st, 2018) and are expected to act on combining two city panels. It is being recommended that the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals be combined. In the past there have been times when it has been difficult to find residents willing to serve on the panels. There have also been times when zoning matters have been forced to be continued because of the lack of a quarum.
The new combined panel would be known as the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission. It would consist of 7 members instead of 9.
Also during tonight’s meeting, the City Council is expected to award a contract for $24,440 for asbestos removal work at the former Gulick Illiana Health Care building. The City earlier purchased the building and plans to demolish it to make way for future development. A small strip mall has been proposed for the site but no announcements have been made yet about what might locate there.
The City Council meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street.
