(THIS STORY HAS BEEN UPDATED. SEE THE STORY FILED REGARDING ARRESTS IN THE SUBWAY ARMED ROBBERY.) Danville Police are investigating two robberies which were reported Tuesday (May 7, 2018), and they have a suspect in custody in one of them.
Police say a 62-year-old man was robbed moments after he removed cash from an ATM at a bank at 901 North Gilbert Street. No weapon was displayed but some cash was stolen during a brief struggle. The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Danville Police located a suspect shortly after the robbery. The 31-year-old male suspect was being held on preliminary charges of robbery and aggravated battery. The suspect’s name was being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.
The other incident involved an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant in the 2700 block of North Vermilion Street. Police say two men robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. The suspects were armed and were described as being in their mid-twenties. Police are still trying to locate them.
