Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says bids have come in much lower than expected for the removal of the Danville Dam along the Vermilion River. That dam behind the Public Safety Building and another at Ellsworth Park are both slated for removal….

Once the dams are gone, Mayor Eisenhauer thinks it will boost recreation along the rivers….
So now, the Mayor says the City is concentrating even more on the Riverfront Area for development….
The Mayor noted efforts have been underway for years to remove the dams because of some tragic canoeing accidents which have occurred.
One man who was fishing near the dam at Ellsworth Park Thursday said once the dam is removed he will simply fish elsewhere.
