Plans for a large music and wellness festival this fall at Kennekuk County Park northwest of Danville have been officially cancelled. The Vermilion County Conservation District Board has voted unanimously to deny approving a contract for ‘Serenity Base Fest’ for this year.
Conservation Board President Jonathan Myers told VermilionCountyFirst.com News the parties had not yet reached an agreement on a contract..
Myers adds the Conservation District was surprised to learn one thing about the proposed festival online…
Organizers of ‘Serenity Base Fest’ had told the Conservation District Trustees in February it would not be a typical music fest. They said in addition to music there would be such things as yoga, meditation, health and wellness programs and farmers’ markets. The organizers said the event would likely attract from 25-hundred to 5-thousand people to Kennekuk County Park.
The Conservation District had tentatively reserved a large area of the park for the festival, but at last evening’s meeting the board agreed to allow the general public to use those areas.
