When State Representative Chad Hays leaves the General Assembly in August or September, there will be another person appointed to replace him. Representative Hays says that person will fill out the remainder of his term – including serving during the Fall Veto Session. But Hays adds whoever wins among the candidates who are already on the ballot this fall will be the person sworn-in come January.
Hays says it will be up to the Republican Party leaders in both Champaign and Vermilion Counties to decide who will fill the 104th District seat temporarily. He says information will be released soon regarding how people can let party leaders know they are interested in the short-term position.
