A Hoopeston man has been nominated to become the new chairman of the Vermilion County Board. GOP members of the Board were unanimous in their selection of Larry Baughn when they caucused Monday evening. He will be officially nominated at the September meeting when current Chairman Mike Marron leaves.
Baughn says there is work to do….
Baughn was asked to outline his background following the caucus….
Marron is leaving the County Board Office September 7th to be sworn-in as State Representative to fill the remainder of Chad Hays’ term. Marron faces Democrat Cynthia Cunningham of Saint Joseph in the November election.
Democrats could also nominate someone to become the next County Board chairman, but the Democrats are currently out-numbered on the board 17 to 10.
