A new Industrial Career Pathways program at Danville Area Community College has both college officials and some local industrial leaders excited. And it is boosting hopes for some people who are currently unemployed.
Stephanie Yates (shown in top photo) is DACC’s Coordinator of Customized Training. She says a local consortium is using a $360-thousand dollar state grant to provide job training for both the unemployed and some existing manufacturing employees…..
Yates met Wednesday with some program instructors and representatives from Vermilion County Works and local industries to discuss upcoming training opportunities….
And Yates told VermilionCountyFirst.com News that what is really unique about the Industrial Career Pathways program is that it is employer driven….
Anyone interested in participating in the Industrial Career Pathways program should sign-up at the Vermilion County Works Center on North Franklin Street in Danville. But the grant funds are limited to 75 participants.
Danville Area Community College also received word earlier that it was getting a $250-thousand dollar Employer Readiness Consortium grant. The award funds a pilot program for Danville Area Community College to provide customized training for up to 360 existing workers at twenty Danville area manufacturers.
Vermilion Advantage and the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center are others participating in the consortium.
