An investigation is underway into the death of a person at the Public Safety Building in Danville. Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Hartshorn says the person died on Wednesday, August 1st. He also says it was an inmate who was being housed at the jail, but would not say whether the victim is a male or female.
‘’We have requested that Illinois State Police handle the investigation,’’ said Hartshorn. He would not say whether foul play is suspected, and instead said authorities are awaiting autopsy results.
Hartshorn also noted that sometimes it takes two to four weeks to get final autopsy results from the lab.
