Early yesterday morning police responded to a residence in the unit block of Kentucky Street in reference to a victim of a shooting. They found a 41-year-old Danville man with a gunshot wound to the jaw. Due to his injury he was unable to provide much information other than he had been shot while inside his home. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
During a follow-up investigation Danville Police Detectives identified three suspects in the investigation, all juveniles, males 17, 15 and 14 years old. They were taken into custody at a residence in the 100 block of Kentucky Street and are being held at the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm.
No other information is being released as the investigation continues.
Sunday morning at just after midnight Danville Police went to a residence in the 900 block of East Fairchild Street in reference to a home invasion in progress. The homeowner told police he had fired a gun at an intruder trying to enter through a window, and that he had seen a handgun on that person. He had noticed two men in his backyard earlier and someone had knocked loudly at his door. Police interviewed a person of interest being treated for a gunshot wound at Carle Hospital in Urbana, but that person was uncooperative and currently there is no link between him and the incident.
