Some former Danville City Council members think it’s time to switch to the City Manager/Alderman form of local government. Former Alderwoman Nancy O’Kane says she realizes some citizens think it will be too costly to have both a city manager and a part-time mayor….

Over 100 citizens attended a public forum Monday evening on the proposal to change Danville’s form of government. The meeting at the Turtle Run Banquet Center was hosted by Moving Danville Forward, the citizen group promoting the proposed change.
Former Alderman Bill Black told the crowd that Danville is losing some good people…
Black said he was heartened by the turnout for the meeting. Danville residents will be voting in November on whether the city should adopt the managerial form of government and continue to elect aldermen from wards.
If voters approve the change it would take effect next spring. In the meantime it would be up to the city council to find and hire a city manager.
