The City of Danville is seeking up to $400-thousand dollars in grant money to help with some major improvements at Ellsworth Park.
Steve Lane, Danville’s Superintendent of Parks and Public Property, says the funds from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources would be used to move the parks restrooms out of the flood plane…a new picnic shelter…multi-use football and soccer field and other improvements….
The improvements would be on the north side of the park which is located along U.S. route 150, west of Danville’s downtown area. The Danville City Council this week approved plans to apply for the grant after hearing in-house labor could be used for the 50-percent local match that is required.
