A car show and memorial ride on Saturday honored Vermilion County Veterans and one in particular. The ride was the 5th Annual Sparky Songer Memorial Ride, honoring the late Harold ‘Sparky’ Songer and raising money to help support the Vermilion County War Museum. Songer was a past president of the War Museum and former prisoner of war.
The ride started at Pape Family Funeral Home where a car show raised funds to help with the upkeep of the memorials along the Memorial Way which is that segment of Hazel Street.
Those who participated in the ride were given an opportunity to tour the Vermilion County War Museum and were also treated to a meal at American Legion Post 210.
