The Rantoul Village Board has selected Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer to become Rantoul’s new village administrator. Final approval of Eisenhauer is expected when the Rantoul Village Board meets Tuesday evening.
Rantoul Mayor Charles Smith made the announcement. ‘’He has been involved in all aspects of the City (of Danville) including Budget Planning, Economic Development, Contract Negotiations and Downtown and Community Revitalization,’’ said Mayor Smith. ‘’We feel this experience will give him a positive approach to help Rantoul move forward in the plans developed through the Rantoul Tomorrow initiative.”
Eisenhauer has been Danville’s Mayor since 2003 and is currently serving his fourth term. If he gets final approval of the Rantoul Village Board on Tuesday it would be up to Danville City Council members to decide who will serve the remaining 5 months of Eisenhauer’s term as mayor.
The Rantoul Village Board has been looking for a replacement for current village administrator Rick Snider. Snider intends to help with a smooth transition.
Eisenhauer started looking for another job when the issue arose about the proposal to change Danville’s form of government. Voters will decide next month whether they want to switch to a council/city manager form of government. Eisenhauer has said he is not interested in serving in the mayor’s position in Danville part-time. If the change in the form of government is approved by voters the mayor’s job would become a part time position after the spring election.
