During the meeting, Mayor Eisenhauer announced that he had decided not to make a budget presentation….
City Comptroller Shelley Scott presented the new budget and tax levy proposal instead of the mayor. The tax rate is expected to climb to $2.49 per $100 of equalized assessed value…up from last year’s $2.26. But Scott noted that if the projected surplus in the General Fund of $522-thousand dollars is applied to the unfunded pension liability, the tax rate could be $2.32 (per $100 of equalized assessed value) instead of $2.49. Discussions on the budget and tax levy will continue next week.
