Danville City Council members may delay work on a new city budget. Alderman Steve Nichols, who chairs the Public Services Committee, notes that in recent years the budget has been tied to the tax levy which must be ready in December….
Alderman Tom Stone says he would like to see a levy with a zero-percent property tax increase. Stone says the 11-percent hike discussed earlier by the City Comptroller ‘’is a pretty big number.’’
Another alderman, Steve Foster, noted the city used to approve its budgets in April. He also noted that by next April Danville will have either a new mayor or city manager.

Rickey Williams, who will become Danville’s new acting mayor next month, says he thinks the city is going to have to look at cuts. But he did not say where he thinks those cuts should be made.
