A number of special activities have been scheduled at the Danville Public Library. All of the sessions are open to the general public – free of charge. Here is the rundown of those activities:
December 10: Learn about DNA and genetic genealogy during this month’s Genealogy Club meeting. Genealogy Club will meet from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the second floor meeting room.
December 11: Wee Wigglers story times contain songs, stories, and serious silliness for the youngest book-lovers. Offered on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room, for children from birth up to 24 months, with a caregiver.
December 11: Kids’ Snack Club combines themed stories and snacks to educate children. Children will learn about Santa Claus and make a yummy banana Santa snack. Kids’ Snack Club meets at 3:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room, for children, ages 5-18; children under 8 with a caregiver.
December 12: Preschool Pals Playgroup meets at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room. For children, ages 2-6 years, and their caregivers.
December 12: Girls Who Code clubs are structured to teach basic elements in computer science to girls. For tween and teen girls, ages 12-18, 4:00 p.m. in the second floor conference room.
December 13: The Wonder Garden Club teaches children about plants and how to care for them. Children will learn about the spice ginger by listening to stories, decorating gingerbread cookies and trying ginger ale. This program begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Children’s Program room. Ages 5-11 (under 8 must be accompanied by a caregiver).
December 13: Tween Gaming is a chance for children, ages 8-11, to game together in the Children’s Program Room from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
December 14: Adults, 60 and older, are invited to Coffee Time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with snacks, games, and good conversation. This program is held on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room.
December 15: Come build marvelous creations with Legos® at the Builder’s Club. We’ll meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room. For children, ages 5-11, children under 8 with a caregiver.
December 15: Families are welcome to join Santa Claus as he reads holiday themed stories, tells jokes and performs a little magic! Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. This program begins at 2:00 p.m. in the first floor meeting room. For children, ages 5-11, children under 8 with a caregiver.
December 15: Pages to Pictures book and movie club invites participants to read the book, watch the movie at the library and then discuss both afterwards. This month, we will discuss Skipping Christmas by John Grisham after watching the 2004 film adaptation. The movie begins at 1:00 p.m. in the second floor meeting room.
