A Danville woman who has been donating to the United Way for many years became the grand prize winner Tuesday night in the United Way 2019 campaign incentive program.
Christina Walls of Danville and 5 other finalists were chosen from among everyone who chose to pledge $2 or more in a weekly payroll deduction, or make a donation of $104 or more, to the 2018/2019 United Way of the Danville Area campaign. In partnership with Carmack Car Capital & Meijer, each of six qualifiers became a finalist to select a key that could win them a car, or $20,000 cash.
For the second year in a row, it came down to the final key that lit up the car and made Christina Walls the grand prize winner. The other 5 finalists each won a $100 Meijer gift card.
Now that this incentive program is over, Sheri Askren, the director of the United Way of the Danville Area, and Gary Knight, owner of Carmack car Capital, are each looking forward to doing it all again next year. “We never stop taking donations, and your community needs you” said Askren
