The City of Danville has begun the search for new firefighter candidates in order to restock its eligibility list. The city recently hired eight new firefighters exhausting the current eligibility roster.
The City is now accepting new applications for the probationary firefighter position. Application packets are available at the city’s website and in the lobby at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street. Applications must be submitted to the City Human Resources Office by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
Candidates who wish to become a Danville Firefighter must be at least 20 years old but not yet 35 at the time of application…and must be 21 and under 35 when appointed. The testing process consists of a Physical Agility Test, a Written Test, and an Oral Interview. It is expected that the testing will begin in the first part of May with the Physical Agility Test. Candidates must pass each element in order to proceed to the next step.
