Danville District 118 School Board members are considering offering some high school classes at the middle school level. Assistant School Superintendent Dr. Beth Yacobi notes the proposal includes offering Algebra 1 and Biology classes at the 8th grade level….
High School classes which are taught at the middle school level would have to be taught by a certified high school teacher. But Danville school administrators say that is not a problem since some teachers at the middle school level already have high school teaching certificates. Students would have an opportunity to get some high school credits before they ever reach high school.
Also being proposed is removing Auto Safety as a graduation requirement. Danville High School Principal Kimberly Norton explains why that is being proposed…
The school board will vote later on whether to accept the changes. It was a discussion item only at Wednesday evening’s school board meeting.
