The Illinois House could vote today on whether to approve raising the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour. The proposal cleared the Illinois House Labor and Commerce Committee on Wednesday.
State Representative Mike Marron of Fithian (shown in photo) says he still has concerns about the proposal….
Marron was hoping for more conversation regarding how the increase is going to affect downstate Illinois….
State Representative Tom Bennett of Gibson City also has concerns about raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour….
Representative Bennett says those alternatives were not even given an opportunity for discussion.
The bill headed to the full House for consideration would bump the $8.25 an hour minimum wage to $9.25 effective January 1st. The minimum wage would reach the $15 mark in 2025.
