Danville Mayor Rickey Williams says five people have applied to become the next Danville Corporation Counselor. He plans to interview two of them in the process to replace outgoing city attorney Dave Wesner.
The Danville City Council approved a professional services agreement this week in which the city will pay Wesner a $7,000 monthly retainer. The agreement says Wesner will be paid $180 an hour…with all hours first being credited toward the monthly retainer.
The agreement finalizes a retirement plan for Wesner as he continues to work for the city until a new city attorney is hired.
City Council members also extended an agreement to have Brock Burton to continue to manage the Harrison Park Golf Course. Mayor Williams says the agreement gives Burton an opportunity to recoup some pay that was lost earlier if income from concessions rise.
