Danville Police are investigating two separate incidents where victims reported they were battered over the weekend. In one of them the victim was robbed of his billfold.
Joshua Webb, Commander of the Danville Police Criminal Investigation Division, says the first incident was reported shortly before one o’clock Saturday afternoon. The male victim told police he was walking in the unit block of Bremer Street when he was approached by two black male suspects. The victim said he was battered when he refused the suspects’ demands for money.
One of the suspects was described as a heavy set black male who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and grey pants. The second suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. There were no injuries reported during the incident.
Commander Webb says police responded to the OSF Emergency Department shortly after noon Sunday after a battery victim showed up there for treatment. Police found a male who said he was beaten and robbed by three males in the area of Illinois and Williams Streets. Two of the robbers were described as black males and the third described as a white male.
The victim went to the hospital to get treatment for non-life threatening injuries after he was punched and kicked.
Police say they have no information at this time to indicate the two incidents are related. The investigation into both continues.
