Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says he is not going to miss the sometimes middle of the night phone calls as he retires. But he adds he will miss dealing with lots of people.
Thomason joined the Danville Police force 49 years ago as a cadet. He says he had just left the military and stopped by what was then Danville Junior College, where he met instructor John Girton….
And Thomason adds although the technology has changed tremendously over his career….the job’s responsibilities have not….
Thomason retires effective on Friday.
He thanked citizens who have cooperated with police over the years, including the ‘Three Kings of Peace’ and others. ‘’That communications is vital,’’ he says.
[Thomason was made an honorary member of the ‘Three Kings of Peace’ at a Danville City Council meeting recently.]
The Danville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was set to appoint an interim Public Safety Director at a meeting on Friday (March 28th).
