The Danville Public Library is joining in the celebration for National Library Week. Here are activities that will be occurring throughout the week which are open to the general public:
April 8 – 13: Join Danville Public Library in celebrating National Library Week with contests and prizes all week long! Find one of fifty “Golden Tickets” hidden throughout the library for a small prize; use a book cover to compete in our “Book Face” contest; learn the history of Danville Public Library through displays in the Adult Services department and design a bookmark celebrating libraries in the Children’s Room.
April 8: Discover research strategies, organization tips and more when looking into your family’s history. Genealogy Club will meet from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the Archives Room.
April 9: Wee Wigglers, for children from birth up to 24 months, with a caregiver, are offered on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room. These story times contain songs, stories, and serious silliness for the youngest book-lovers.
April 9: Kids’ Snack Club combines themed stories and snacks to educate children. Children will l enjoy a yummy pineapple and pretzel “spring chicken” snack. Kids’ Snack Club meets at 3:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room, for children, ages 5-18; children under 8 with a caregiver.
April 10: Preschool Pals Playgroup will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room and is for children, ages 2-6 years, and their caregivers.
April 10: Teens can join the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and share what services, books or activities they want to see at the library! For teens, ages 12 – 18, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room.
April 10: Teens can meet for a Sweet Escape – complete a fun writing activity and enjoy mini donuts – in the first floor meeting room at 5:00 p.m. For teens, ages 12-18 years old.
April 11: The Wonder Garden Club will use natural dyes to color eggs, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. For children, ages 5-11, children under 8 with a caregiver.
April 11: Tween Gaming is a chance for children, ages 8-11, to game together in the Children’s Program Room from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
April 12: Adults, 60 and older, are invited to Coffee Time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with snacks, games, and good conversation. This program is held on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room.
April 13: In honor of National Library Week, therapy dogs will be available for children to read to from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Children also may bring and read to their favorite stuffed animal. For children of all ages, under 8 with a caregiver.
