The Vermilion County Coroner has released the name of the man who died Tuesday evening (April 23, 2019) after being shot in the 800 block of Sherman Street. Coroner Jane McFadden says the victim is 33-year-old Cedric M. Halthon of Danville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Commander Joshua Webb told VermilionCountyFirst.com News that officers had responded to a report of shots fired when they found the victim. He was lying in an alley behind an apartment building. Police say witnesses reported seeing a male subject wearing a black and white sweatshirt running from the area after the shooting. Commander Webb says police are attempting to identify anyone who may have been in the area when this incident occurred. No other injuries were reported.
Members of the Three Kings of Peace were also on the scene. The group has been trying to prevent violence in Danville. Reverend Frank McCullough – a member of the group – said he had been talking with the victim earlier…
And Pastor McCullough added there are ways citizens can help stop the violence….
