World War II history came to life at Kennekuk County Park, northwest of Danville, this weekend (May 4th and 5th). World War Two living history enthusiasts from at least six states have been on hand discussing the war and giving demonstrations.
Jacqueline Dethloff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin helped turn the Atwood House at Kennekuk into a USO Center. She described how the USO helped troops during and after the war…

World War II era vehicles and equipment were on display at the park, along with other historical items from the 1940’s. Those who were participating in the World War II Days event came from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. There was no charge for admission.
