Some students from Salt Fork South Elementary School are the latest to graduate from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department’s D.A.R.E. program. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, but the program involves a lot more than just telling students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol according to Deputy Jay Miller….
Miller says one area students like to discuss is stress….
The guest speaker at the student’s graduation ceremony was Bill Pickett, News Director of WDNL, WDAN, and WRHK (K-Rock) Radio in Danville. He told the students that he is confident that with what the students learned in the D.A.R.E. class that they will make the right choices in life.
Deputy Miller says teaching the class has been something that has been very rewarding….
The D.A.R.E. program focuses on issues ranging from drug and alcohol abuse to smoking and bullying.
