Motorists traveling through Danville this Memorial Day Weekend will be greeted by thousands of American Flags. The Danville Rotary Club’s ‘Rotary Memorial Way’ project is back. Club member Dr. Don Rokosch says anyone could pay $5 to sponsor a flag along the route to honor loved ones….
Rokosch paused to talk to VermilionCountyFirst.com News as the flags were being placed along the route Friday morning. He explained where the proceeds go…
And Rokosch added that support for the Rotary Memorial Way has grown to where now there are about 3,000 flags…
The flags are not only placed along North Vermilion Street but also around the Vermilion County War Museum and the War Memorials in Danville’s downtown area. A card is attached to each flag denoting who the flag honors and listing the branch of service for those who have served our nation.
