Hundreds of area residents who attended Monday’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Danville’s National Cemetery got a history lesson.
The guest speaker was Paul Garrett, the American Legion State Historian….
Garrett honored those who are currently serving in America’s Armed Forces as he reflected on those who have served in the past….
The ceremony included the traditional placing of wreaths, a motorcycle parade, and patriotic music – including Curtis Kiser singing ‘God Bless America’…..
The Danville Municipal Band also provided patriotic music for the occasion…
Citizens attending the ceremony were reminded that ever since the first shots were fired in the Revolutionary War, Americans have been answering the call to serve around the globe.
