The Director of the Housing Authority of Danville says these are some exciting times. Jaclyn Vinson notes the relocation of 57 families is nearly complete at the Fair Oaks Housing area…
Vinson discussed the demolition and other housing issues on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program Monday morning (June 3, 2019). She says the buildings that will be coming down have all exceeded their useful life. There are only 4 of the 57 families who are yet to relocate.
Vinson also noted there are public housing units in some other parts of Vermilion County and more units are being considered for demolition….
The Housing Authority of Danville and Vermilion County Housing Authority also oversee a Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. Over 500 families and individuals applied for assistance under that program when it was recently opened for applications. Vinson notes 90-percent of those who applied are people who already live in Vermilion County but are trying to improving their living conditions.
