Aqua Illinois Water Company wants the Danville City Council to reconsider its vote last month rejecting a Special Use Permit for a solar project. Aqua Area Manager Bob Ervin reminded council members during their meeting last night (Tuesday, June 4th, 2019) that the project would save the company an estimated $100-thousand dollars a year. Ervin says that would help the company stay out of the rate hike arena.
The company earlier proposed placing solar panels near its water treatment plant on West Fairchild Street. Some neighbors objected claiming it would lower their property values. But Ervin told city council members that several accommodations had been made to address the neighbors’ concerns.
Alderwoman Sharon McMahon earlier voted against the project but says she has a different picture about it now. Alderman Steve Foster is another who voted against the solar development, and now says he wants to talk more to the neighbors. Foster also said the council should reconsider the vote at its June 18th meeting.
