The sound of rock-n-roll has been filling the air at Danville Area Community College’s Bremer Conference Center this week. Forty-two students, 17-years-old or younger, are involved in a ‘First Gig Rock and Roll’ Camp.

Camp co-founder Jeff Markland says the kids are placed in groups depending on their musical skills when they first arrive…

All five bands at this week’s camp will be performing at the Palmer Arena starting at noon on Saturday (June 29, 2019). The concert is free and Blackmon says everyone is encouraged to attend.

Some of the instructors at this week’s ‘First Gig Rock and Roll Camp’ will be performing at Temple Plaza with some of the kids starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday. And on Saturday night, Blackmon says two bands will be performing at Temple Plaza with music starting at 5:00 p.m. They are the T.B.T. Band and (from 8-11 p.m.) X-Krush.
Also this week students in an Art Camp for Kids at DACC are displaying their work at various businesses downtown.
