The strike by more than 200 employees at Danville’s Viscofan plant is over. Members of local 686 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union voted on a new contract agreement on Sunday.
The company said earlier that it had implemented a contingency plan to keep the plant operating after the workers went on strike last month. Union President Tim Miller had said the strike centered on mandatory overtime, along with the on-call policy for maintenance workers and pay for union members.
The employees are heading back to work today (Monday, July 1st).
The company manufactures casings which are used in the meat industry for such things as hot dogs and sausages.
