Work by City of Danville Public Works employees on the demolition of six buildings at the Fair Oaks Public Housing area is advancing. Two buildings are already gone and crews were working Monday (August 12, 2019) on the demolition of two more.
Jacqueline Vinson, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Danville, says once the six buildings are removed they will not be replaced. She said earlier that once the sites are cleared there will be some improvements on the green spaces left behind. Vinson said those improvements would include such things as pavilions and grills.
The demolition work began five weeks ago and originally it was thought the work would be done within seven weeks.
