A swearing-in ceremony is set Wednesday, September 11th, for six new Probationary Danville Police Officers. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street.
The Danville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners approved the appointments earlier this month, subject to the successful completion of physical and psychological tests. The officers are also required to successfully complete training at the Police Academy at the University of Illinois, and field training in Danville.
Mayor Rickey Williams said earlier that two of the officers will be filling vacancies. The other four will bring the Danville Police Department up to its authorized strength of 62 sworn officers.
