You may notice a lot of people wearing jeans today, (Friday, October 4th). The OSF HealthCare Foundation is hosting ‘It’s All in the Jeans Day’ – an event which allows citizens, schools, businesses and civic organizations to help in the fight against cancer.
For a $5 donation to the OSF HealthCare Foundation area residents are wearing denim to work or school. Through a special business match program each $5 donation has the potential of being tripled. If a business matches the employee’s donation, special business partners will ‘’match the match’’ – essentially tripling the original $5 donation.
The money that is raised stays in the Danville/Vermilion County area to help benefit breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment programs. It also provides financial assistance for preventive breast exams and durable medical equipment for cancer patients. And the funds have helped enhance services at the Bobette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care Center at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville.
Over the years, ‘It’s All in the Jeans’ Day has raised over $600-thousand dollars in Vermilion County. Some of the money helped OSF purchase new 3D mammography equipment.
