The Illinois Department of Transportation’s new Multi-Year Plan of road and bridge projects includes over $85-million dollars for projects in Vermilion County. Governor JB Pritzker and IDOT released the statewide list of projects today (Monday, October 21, 2019) noting it is the first to capture the historic impact of the Rebuild Illinois capital plan.
In Vermilion County more than $31-million dollars is proposed for engineering and reconstruction of 5.8 miles of U.S. route 150 west of Danville. Preliminary engineering work is scheduled during fiscal year 2020, but the work is expected to be done between 2021 and 2025.
Another $17.7 million dollars is earmarked for a bridge superstructure along Interstate 74 and median crossover at the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River west of Danville. The work is scheduled to be completed sometime over the 2021-2025 fiscal period. Another $1.7 million dollars is included in the multi-year road plan for engineering for those bridge improvements.
Other money expected to come to Vermilion County includes $5-million dollars for replacement of a bridge on Tilton Road which passes over Interstate 74. Engineering funds for the bridge are in the fiscal year 2020 budget.

Over $9.6 million dollars is earmarked in the state’s five year road program for pavement overlay and drain and ramp repairs along Interstate 74 from the Vermilion River in Danville east to the Indiana state line.
Millions of dollars are also included in the FY 2020 – 2025 Rebuild Illinois Highway Improvement Program including the reconstruction of the Interstate 74 and Interstate 57 interchange at a cost of $120.2 million dollars.
The FY20-25 Multi-Year Plan serves as a baseline plan in the Rebuild Illinois capital program. Updated plans, based on revenue and evaluation metrics, will be released each year and adjustments to projects will be made on an annual basis, according to a joint statement from Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Overall the new Multi-Year Plan lays out $23.5 billion dollars in Maintenance Preservation and Expansion Projects across the state.
