Members of the Tilton Village Board have acted to cap the number of video gaming establishments by limiting licenses to pour liquor to twelve. Mayor David Phillips says County Market will be awarded a pour license, however, so the store can serve alcohol in a video gaming area coming to the front of its store along Georgetown Road….
{”Their corporation was worried about the Prevailing Wage Act, it raised the minimum wage, so they was wanting other sources of income to keep employees hired,” said Mayor Phillips. ”So they asked for a gaming facility. I guess they’re going to build it in the office in the front of the building, and be separate pouring – and not allowed in the store. Which, we have a good relation with the County Market, and I understand some on the board didn’t want to ruin that relationship by not allowing them to have gaming. Because anytime we go to County Market and ask for a donation for anything, they’re on board and ready to go.”}
Mayor Phillips says the new Mach 1 truck stop under construction near County Market, will be allowed to have video gaming, but he notes….
{”They’re not going to have pouring in Mach 1. It will just be a package liquor store and gaming, because they’re not required to have a pouring license,” said the Tilton Mayor.

Since Mach 1 is a truck stop it will be allowed to have 10 video gaming machines. Other video gaming locations along route one and elsewhere are limited to six machines.
The Tilton Mayor thinks lawmakers were looking for some way to regulate gaming when they required locations to also have a liquor license….
{”My feeling is that there’s a lot of people who want to game, but they don’t want to drink. And you can see that more and more,” said Mayor Phillips. ”There’s a lot of people that go to the riverboats and never have a drink. They drink Pepsi or whatever. They don’t want to drink, you know, they just want to go game and have fun. And I don’t think any municipality should be forced to issue a pouring license to just have gaming,” added Mayor Phillips.
In Danville, Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. says an area is being carved out within the Mach 1 building on North Gilbert Street to allow gaming. And because the business has met all of the requirements the City of Danville plans to issue the North Gilbert Mach 1 a city license to dispense liquor on site. ‘’They’re building a separate room’’ for the gaming and liquor sales, according to Mayor Williams. He adds he is not excited about issuing the license but will do so if the business meets requirements.
