The Executive Director of Danville’s Fischer Theatre continues to be excited about what could come to that building in the future. Jason Rome was the guest on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program. He noted that while the building is open it still needs other improvements…
{‘’The cost of just getting the building to be able to stand on its own two legs again, that was millions of dollars. So, you talk about the generosity of what it took to do that – it would be impossible to try to belittle that,’’ said Rome. ‘’But just so people understand, if we want to have those Broadway shows and things like that – just as an example – we don’t have a place for a 20 or 30 member cast to actually be housed inside the theater right now. So that’s going to be – call it our phase two project – to be able to get us there,’’ added Rome.}
Rome says since being named the Fischer’s Executive Director a little over a month ago he has been talking with some local performing arts groups…
{‘’You know, one of the issues that every community has is that you have individual groups that try to take it on alone. And it’s hard to succeed that way. And so, I think the best and easiest path for success for all of us is to try to welcome and fortify all of those arts efforts that we’ve already got in the community,’’ said Rome. ‘’You don’t have to reinvent the wheel sometimes. And that’s something that is going to be great,’’ he added.}
Rome also noted the Fischer will continue to show movies. Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone will be shown at the Fischer at 7:00 p.m. next Friday, November 1st. Tickets are five-dollars. They will be available for purchase at the Fischer Theatre box office Monday, October 28th through Friday, November 1st, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Information on how you can help the Fischer – either monetarily or by being a volunteer – is available on their website at Fischertheatre.com.
