If you missed the recent Financial Aid Workshop hosted by Danville Area Community College there is no need for alarm. Candace Miles, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at DACC, says there is another workshop coming up….
{‘’Which is November 2nd, and its here at DACC,’’ said Miles. ‘’It’s from nine until twelve in Lincoln Hall, room 205. And we will have financial aid specialists and experts here to work hands-on to help students and parents complete the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid). So we can actually help them from the beginning to the end,’’ added Miles.}
October 1st was the first day students could start filling out the FAFSA form for the 2020-2021 school year. Miles says the first day to fill out the form has been changed. It used to be January 1st. She also says about 90-percent of DACC students who apply for financial aid are able to get it…
{‘’There’s so many types of financial aid that students could be eligible for – but they won’t know until they actually apply. And I run into individuals all the time that have doubts that they will qualify for something. But I tell them it doesn’t hurt to go in and apply for financial aid,’’ said Miles during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News.
Miles noted that filling out the FAFSA is free, so she says no one should be trying to charge you for it.
If you are an Illinois student receiving a MAP Grant in the current academic year, and plan to attend college again next year, you should file your 2020-2021 FAFSA by December 1st, 2019 for priority access to a MAP grant.
