A late Sunday morning fire in Danville left heavy damage to a home at 34 South Griffin Street. There were no injuries to firefighters or family members who lived there, but firefighters revived a dog they rescued from the home.
Danville Firefighters say the original alarm said there was a fire on the porch, but when they arrived they found the back half of the home in flames. After being told there was a dog still inside the home firefighters were inside looking for it. They found the dog unresponsive, but say it appeared to be alright a few minutes after being administered some oxygen by firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
